LyX doesn't show Images in Workspace anymore

Since I installed LyX on my new computer, it doesn't show images in the workspace anymore. *.bmp images are displayed right away, but with *.jpeg or other images, it says its converting, but nothing happens for hours.

I've searched for quit a while and didn't find anything on this problem. Any suggestions?

Hi JoY8x, welcome to the forum! When posting a problem in LyX, it's a good idea to include your OS (and version) and your LyX version.

I'm taking a guess (because you're using bmp) that you're using Windows. If so, please follow the instructions here:

and post back whether it works or not (and if not, please give details).

thanks for your reply. I reinstalled LyX as explained and it worked.
I don't really understand what went wrong though, since I had installed it from scratch the first time already.
Maybe its because I use Win 8 and its not really supported yet?

Thanks for posting back. There are several installers for LyX on Windows. Just recently there was a switch to a different type of installer so there are a few bumps but the author of the new installer is good about quickly making fixes for the problems. Hopefully it will be smoother in the future.

Also I think it's hard to get things right on Windows (and you're probably right that we don't know much about Windows 8) because it must package a bunch of extra programs that LyX needs.

Glad to here that it worked well.
