nomencl with multicol

Postby burgstaa » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:59 pm

Hi there!

I would like to make a Nomenclature Index in two colums

My approach was the following:
  1. \documentclass{article}
  2.
  3. \usepackage{nomencl}
  4. \makenomenclature
  5. \usepackage{multicol}
  6.
  7.
  8. \begin{document}
  9. \section*{Main equations}
  10. \begin{equation}
  11. a=\frac{N}{A}
  12. \end{equation}%
  13. \nomenclature{$a$}{The number of angels per unit area}%
  14. \nomenclature{$N$}{The number of angels per needle point}%
  15. \nomenclature{$A$}{The area of the needle point}%
  16. The equation $\sigma = m a$%
  17. \nomenclature{$\sigma$}{The total mass of angels per unit area}%
  18. \nomenclature{$m$}{The mass of one angel}
  19. follows easily.
  20.
  21. \begin{multicols}{2}
  22. \printnomenclature
  23. \end{multicols}
  24.
  25. \end{document}

as a result i get this:
testu.png
testu.png (15.5 KiB) Viewed 2385 times

the "sigma" and "a" should be at the same heigth. I have no idea, how to fix this.

I would appreciate any help very much!

Hi burgstaa,

use these definitions in your document preamble:
  1. \renewcommand*\nompreamble{\begin{multicols}{2}}
  2. \renewcommand*\nompostamble{\end{multicols}}

Later it's sufficient to write just
  1. \printnomenclature
