Christophe Jorssen and Herbert Voß have updated their LaTeX package pst-circ to version 1.50. The new version provides a small enhancements and some bug fixes. According to the authors pst-circ can easily draw current 2-terminal devices and some 3- and 4-terminal devices used in electronic or electric theory.
Martin Gieseking has released version 0.6 of his dvisvgm tool. The new version offers improved font handling including virtual fonts, map files and font encodings. Additionally, several bugs have been fixed and support for MiKTeX has been updated to version 2.7 of this LaTeX distribution for Windows.
Maxime Chupin has released version 2.22 of his package bclogo. The new version contains several new logos and styles and contains and updated documentation. The package supports the creation of colored boxes with a title and a logo and requires either the tikz or the PSTricks graphics engine.
WinEdt version 7 has been released. WinEdt is a feature-rich LaTeX editor running on Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8, on 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It is published as shareware.
Next week, October 19-21, the 32nd annual meeting of the TeX Users Group will take place in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. The conference focuses on document production using LaTeX, TeX, ConTeXt, MetaPost, and related software.
Christian Schenk will release 2.8 Beta 2 of his MiKTeX Tools for GNU/Linux later this week. The new release will contain MiKTeX-pdfTeX, the MiKTeX variant of the pdfTeX engine ported to Linux. The Binary packages (deb/rpm/tgz) are now available for i386 GNU/Linux systems.
Tobias Nähring and Herbert Voß have released their pst-bezier package. The package provides the \psbcurve macro for drawing Bézier curves. The macro provides full control over all the control points of the curve.
Alexander Grahn has released AcroReloadPDF. This little JavaScript file adds a Reload entry to Acrobat Reader's File menu on Linux and other Unix platforms and allows the user to reload the currently displayed document to reflect its latest changes in the viewer. Unfortunately this does not work for Windows, because Adobe's viewer locks opened PDF files against writing by other applications. Some LaTeX editors like for example TeXnicCenter are providing possibilities to work around this limitation.
Robert Papanicola has released the LaTeX package schemabloc in version 1.5. The package provides a set of macros for constructing block diagrams. The package requires the graphics engine TikZ. Unfortunatley the full documentation is only available in French language.

Since the middle of last week, LaTeX Community provides a new RSS feed providing the full text of the news articles instead of only the introductions. The news feed link can be used to read the LaTeX Community news feed using desktop news readers like RSS Bandit or online news readers like Google Reader. The link is now also shown explicitly at the top right of the entry and news page.
Guillaume Connan has released version 4.02c of his tablor package. The new version fixes bugs in the TVI and TVIapp environments. The tablor package allows to generate tables of signs and of variations using the computer algebra system XCAS. The actual plotting of the tables is performed using the the MetaPost macro package tableauVariations.
John Smith has released version 0.24 of his accfonts tool bundle. The tools of this package can be used to create fonts with unusal accented characters, based on already existing fonts. The tools are reading in existing fonts together with a simple definition file containing control lines and are writing out the resulting font. The different tools in the package are supportind Adobe Type 1 fonts, TeX virtual fonts and Omega fonts.

Herbert Voß and Dominique Rodriguez have updated their LaTeX package pstricks-add to version 3.16. The new version contains several enhancements and bug fixes. The package is based on the famous PSTricks package used for enhanced graphics generation from inside LaTeX documents. pstricks-add provides a lot of additional features like arrows, special curves and includes additions and bugfixes for the packages pst-plot and pst-node which are both part of the pstricks distribution.
The TeXnicCenter team has released the fourth alpha version of the new TeXnicCenter 2.0 development branch.TeXnicCenter 2 introduces a lot of changes in contrast to the old version 1 release: For example it introduces a new editor component, unicode support and a much more modern user interface. Alpha four fixes a long list of issues and introduces a lot of interesting and helpful new features.
Thiago S. Mosqueiro has released a comprehensive article about the RevTex 4 package in the LaTeX Community know how section. Thiago describes briefly the RevTex 4 package for those interested in Physical Review look and feel. As a non-trivial article, some features supported (and not supported) by RevTeX 4 are presented with screenshot examples. This article may help physicists in first touch with APS journals and manuscripts submittion. Go ahead and be the next to write an article!
Herbert Voß has released version 0.59 of his pst-func package with minor changes. The pst-func package is built for the use with PSTricks. It provides macros for plotting various mathematical functions like polynomials, Fourier sum, Bessel function, Gauß function and a lot more.
Together with the design student Julia Pohl (Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel) we developed a survey about the usability of TeXnicCenter. It is supposed to help us for the future development of TeXnicCenter. Currently the survey is only available in German. We are looking for volunteers that translate the survey into other languages.
